Colour can be so versatile. Soft light, angular stone, a smooth surface – the feeling that the surface would feel rough if you were to run your hand over it.
The contrasts create an unknown space. Similarly, various figures can hide within the shadows and contours. I am delighted every time someone discovers something new in abstract works.
When I paint, I work with my picture. I let myself be guided, sensing where brightness is lacking, where contrast needs to be introduced, where the colours should flow into one another and where they should remain sharply separated, in order ultimately to create a sense of tension within the picture whilst maintaining a certain balance.
