Statement :
I am particularly interested in colour in the absence of objects and figures.
I am interested in the interplay between harmony and disharmony, chance and control, lightness and depth, dynamism and stillness.
My working method gives rise to unintentional, unplanned and chance moments and areas on the canvas. These are moments that appear to be neither predictable nor plannable. Areas of tension or even breaks emerge. I provoke and calculate these breaks and areas of tension through my use of colour and composition.

working method
I mix my own oil paints, stretch the canvases onto frames and prime them. I apply the paint to the canvas in irregular layers, working with varying consistencies. Sometimes very fluid, so that the paint runs down the canvas; sometimes oily and thick, or almost dry, so that the brush hairs leave a fibrous trail. Sometimes I paint areas with colour gradients. Sometimes patches of colour form a conglomerate, or the areas open up and colours show through. Sometimes the areas are opaque or transparent, glossy or matt. Sometimes I paint wet-on-wet; sometimes the paint has to dry first. Sometimes textures from previous layers are visible.
Sometimes the brushstrokes are rough and quick; sometimes slow, delicate and fine. Sometimes the movement is fluid and rounded, jagged or purposeful.
I divide my work into three categories: Colour in Motion (many colours and many movements), Moving Colour (1 to 3 colours and movements) or Colours with soft transitions and breaks (colour baths or colour spaces).
I am not confined to a single colour scheme; I usually work in waves of colour – red for a while, blue for a while …
Oil paintings take a long time to dry.

When photographing my work and processing the images digitally, I take care not to distort the colours or make them appear too bright. Depending on how computer screens are calibrated, there may be differences from the original. Please ensure that your screen is not set too bright or that a filter is active. The painting comes to life. Depending on the time of day, the angle of the light and the lighting conditions, the colours of the painting appear differently.
