The significance of an art college when purchasing a work of art from an art student can vary. On the one hand, an artist’s academic background may indicate a sound education and creative skills. On the other hand, the quality of a work of art depends heavily on the artist’s individual talent, style and experience. Affiliation with a prestigious art college may pique the interest of potential buyers, but it is not the only factor. Ultimately, the artwork itself should take centre stage, regardless of the educational institution. Gather information about the work, the artist and their artistic development to date in order to make an informed decision.

As the art students sell their own work and we merely act as intermediaries, the students’ tax regulations apply. The vast majority of art students are not yet liable for tax, so the gross price is the same as the net price. Unfortunately, the remaining 5% must already charge tax: 7% on originals and 19% on prints.
