Genady Arkhipau

Genady Arkhipau is studying fine art and art mediation at the Braunschweig University of Art. Driven by personal experiences of forced displacement, manual labour and a career in traditional art, and underpinned by theoretical studies in art history and art mediation, his current work addresses a wide range of issues—from political oppression and war to religion, aesthetic autonomy, corporate culture and capitalism.

Before studying contemporary art, he was a traditional painter and worked with galleries in the USA and Belarus. His paintings won numerous awards, were published in magazines and anthologies, and were exhibited, amongst other venues, at the Salmagundi Club and the National Arts Club in New York, and the State Museum of Pennsylvania.
