“My poetry is the world” – herman de vries
I play with the aesthetic expression of nature and the body, but also with their delicacy, fragility and decay. In doing so, I work with plants, leaves and their surface structures. Nature itself is artistic and expressive through its diversity of forms and colours. It creates unique and harmonious works of art. To highlight its structures – which may seem incidental and uninteresting to the viewer at first glance – I combine plants and bodies with bold colour compositions.
Through individual drawn elements rendered in black, the composition merges with nature to form a unified whole. By using predominantly natural materials, I work in harmony with nature and, through framing, give its originality the space to take effect.
