"Where does the sculpture begin and where does the human end? What does this mean for the role of the human figure in the image? What does this mean for the personality embodied by the sculpture, and vice versa?"
These were among the questions that guided me during the ‘Lines’ series. The basis of the photography was a model onto whose body geometric elements were constructed. The focus of the work lies primarily on exploring and dissolving the boundaries between human and sculpture.

Michelle Mall
Michelle Mall was born on 11 July 1997 in Stuttgart. She completed a teacher training degree in biology and art at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart and the University of Hohenheim. She now works full-time as a teacher of this subject combination.
Her artistic work focuses on the study of nature, form and colour, as well as various contemporary themes. Her analogue acrylic paintings strike a balance between coarse and fine brushstrokes, whilst her digital paintings present surrealist social criticism in a ‘beautiful’ package. Digital works are also sold as art prints in limited editions.
Art and literature have always been closely linked for her. Texts – whether standing alone or accompanying her work – are an integral part of her practice as an artist. For the past two years, texts and independent publications have become an increasingly significant part of her body of work.
