2025, quartz sand, airbrush, epoxy resin on wood
A relief-like work on a wooden panel. The surface consists of modelled quartz sand with gently sloping variations in height. The colour scheme is created using an airbrush in warm tones such as orange, yellow, pink and green. Individual sections are sealed with epoxy resin, creating a glossy surface effect in certain areas. The work combines matt and glossy areas in a two-dimensional colour gradient.
“This artwork is on display at the SKM Gallery and can only be dispatched after the exhibition (mid-August). Earlier dispatch is also possible by arrangement.”
Christian Rupp
The process is characterised by speed and adaptability, both in his practice and in his lifestyle.
As a removal man, he experiences constant change, which is integrated into his works in a dynamic way.
His approach is based on a playful method, incorporating materials sourced from scrap yards, household clearances and the immediate surroundings.
He uses various painting media, in particular acrylic paint, plaster, an airbrush and spray cans, to create light and shadow effects in his works. He employs these media and tools both on canvas and on objects to create stronger contrasts. Furthermore, he is keen to continually explore new painting surfaces and media, as well as to experiment with combinations of building materials, in order to discover new means of expression.
In combining objects, painting media and building materials, he follows the principle of ‘trial and error’.
