Cat Barzen
I work extensively with archetypal and repetitive organic forms and structures that can be found in nature and the universe at both the micro and macro levels. I am particularly interested in the tension between large areas of colour and fine details. I mainly work on fabrics and on natural-fibre papers such as hemp or cotton. I draw inspiration from studies of nature as well as from psychological and neuroscientific concepts.
Cat Barzen (born in 1999 in Boulder, Colorado) studied psychology in Vienna, Austria. Her work as a tattoo artist has a significant influence on her artistic practice, particularly in her use of line, rhythm and repetition. Since 2025, she has been studying Fine Art at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart. She currently lives and works in Stuttgart, Germany.
