Ekaterina Vasilenko
My name is Ekaterina Vasilenko. I am 23 years old and am studying painting and graphic art at the HBK Essen. I come from Russia, from Siberia, and moved to Germany 1.5 years ago.
I work in the field of realistic painting. I paint in oils on canvas and draw with soft pastels.
I am inspired by natural textures, reflections, transparency and subtle colour nuances. I am particularly fascinated by colour gradients and shimmering surfaces reminiscent of mother-of-pearl.
I enjoy painting portraits. I am interested in people’s inner worlds and emotional states.In my portraits, I aim to convey a sense of vulnerability, loneliness and inner light.
Through my paintings, I seek to express a subtle, almost intangible feeling: a moment of tranquillity, sensitivity and emotional depth. I paint intuitively and experiment with colours.
