Elisa Rungger: Studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe in the class of Prof. Franz Ackermann. “This apparent realism takes on an eerie quality, revealing a reality behind reality that is characteristic of Elisa Rungger’s paintings. In her work, the artist seeks to create an encounter that relates to the here and now. She explores various facets of the medium of painting, as well as seeking a coherent formal relationship between form, content and colour. Rungger paints mainly in oils; she produces sketches and studies on paper, whilst her large-format paintings are on canvas. In her artistic practice, she explores the human condition within the subtleties and intimacy of everyday life. In particular, her paintings evoke ambivalent juxtapositions of public and private, silence and noise, and the collective and the individual.
