Emina Suljkanovic is studying Fine Art at Macromedia University of Applied Sciences in Freiburg.

My artworks explore memories, which I paint using an airbrush and acrylics on primed canvas. These memories are often fragmentary, consisting of objects or atmospheres that hold emotional value for me. My aim is to depict these memories with a blurred effect in order to evoke emotional responses in the viewer as well. These memories are not meant to be merely personal, but to speak directly to the viewer and facilitate a connection. As we all have different perceptions and memories, I aim to create a connection through my paintings. My works are often deliberately blurred, as memories are not always clear either. I mainly paint everyday objects and items that feature in my memories and hold great emotional value. I also explore the theme of home, as I moved from Bosnia to Germany five years ago. The search for a sense of belonging and what ‘home’ means is reflected in my works. As a very sensitive person, I form strong emotional bonds with my memories and wish to capture these in my artworks, giving others the opportunity to interact with them and evoke their own personal memories.
