Katharina Pracht
Katharina Pracht was born in 1998 and has been studying at the University of Education in Freiburg since 2018, where her subjects include art, under the tutelage of Prof. Thomas Heyl, Prof. Michael Klant and Nol Hennissen. During her bachelor’s degree, she gained experience in a wide variety of artistic fields. In particular, she discovered a passion for woodcut and printmaking. “Printing is like a rush” – a great deal of time is spent on the process of creating the print plate, whereas the printing process itself is a moment of flow, defined by the application of ink and the potential uncertainty of the result.
After taking a year’s break to travel and gather inspiration, she began her Master’s degree in 2023.
Her more recent works focus primarily on the effects and emotions that colours can evoke. In doing so, she utilises brushwork, colour contrasts and elements of Surrealism to create space for the viewer’s own perceptions.
