Michaela Jank

My name is Michaela Jank and I am in my 7th semester studying painting and graphic art in Anne Speier’s class at the University of Art and Design Linz.

In my art, I express what overwhelms me to no end. These are images that come to mind one after the other – it is a process that brings relief, as I give a stage (the canvas) to what is happening inside me. Thus, I can say that it no longer exists within me; that the vague feeling has become a reality I can grasp. It often happens that the works (the sculptures and the paintings) take on a life of their own; they seem to develop and take shape of their own accord, without much intervention on my part. The art develops independently of my conscious self and flourishes in all directions.
