Description

Medium:

Mixed media (oil and acrylic) on canvas

I am working on my personal ‘Headless’ series, in which I reflect my own experiences and thoughts. Through my works, I express the feeling of ‘headlessness’ – that sense of having one’s head somewhere else. As a daydreamer, I am fascinated by mental absence and the detachment from rational thought. My works depict me in various life situations in which I distance myself from everyday life in order to communicate with the world more intuitively. The focus is on the state of ‘headlessness’ – my physical presence remains, whilst my mind wanders.

Aileen Clausager

Aileen Clausager is an art student at Canada’s oldest art university (the Ontario College of Art & Design).

Aileen Clausager, born in 1999, is an international visual artist from northern Germany whose expressive painting explores the space between the human figure and abstraction.

At the heart of her work lies the depiction of the human body and portraiture. Using bold, vibrant colours and a dynamic interplay between naturalism and abstraction, she strikes a fluid balance between precise observation and imaginative interpretation.

Her current artistic practice is a personal expression of her identity – sometimes ‘headless’.

As an artist, Aileen Clausager often finds herself daydreaming or losing touch with the present moment. Her series visually express the feeling of ‘being headless’ – an existence beyond the boundaries of rational thought. As a daydreamer, Aileen explores the concept of separation from the mental and rational aspects of the self. The series invites the viewer to reflect on their own moments of mental digression, in which the body remains active whilst the mind is free.

Her works are not only recognised in her home country but are also gaining an ever-growing following across Europe. Furthermore, her works are exhibited internationally in various properties of the Meliá Hotel Group.
