Description: ARTcycling by egenART Upcycling Project 02
“The best thing that can happen to an old IKEA picture”
Creating something unique and meaningful from seemingly worthless objects that would otherwise simply be thrown away – that is at the heart of my artistic practice. ARTcycling by egenART aims to combine creativity with sustainability and to tell stories of transformation and rebirth. In this way, each piece of art becomes a symbol of a new perspective that allows the old to shine in new splendour. With this project, I invite you to experience art that is not only visually appealing but also reflects a conscious commitment to the environment.
In my upcycling project 02, entitled ‘The Best Thing That Can Happen to an IKEA Picture’, I continually breathe new life into IKEA’s best-selling VILSHULT picture.I collect this particular picture (Vilshult) from all over Germany – whether via social media or classified adverts – and, rather than letting it fade into obscurity, I transform it into unique works of art. My focus is on depicting emotions or special moments between people. Each picture thus tells its very own story.
Parts of the original picture are incorporated into this upcycled piece (see detail image 1)
Every IKEA picture comes with a frame (grey) included in the picture. It is dispatched as such.
The material is wood
Shipping:
The artwork is shipped stretched onto a stretcher frame – including a certificate of authenticity and a signature on the reverse.

STUDENT
OFPROF. MARKUS LÜPERTZ
The artist has been living and working
on Lake Ammersee near Munich for over 20 years. Her artistic practice focuses on the following themes:
, emotion and connection.
The exploration and artistic representation of emotions, as well as the capturing of fleeting, intense moments, form the core of her artistic practice. This energetic essence permeates the works and offers viewers the opportunity to experience deeper emotional connections. Reflection on the emotional facets of the works reveals not only a source of inspiration but also a foundation for interactive dialogue with art enthusiasts, which continually gives rise to new perspectives.
Abstraction and materiality
: Her artistic practice navigates the tension between abstraction and materiality. Shaped by her studies under Markus Lüpertz and through collaboration with other renowned mentors, an experimental approach has emerged that utilises a wide range of materials. These include, amongst others, acrylic paints, oil pastels, ash and collages made from Chinese paper.
The creative process is characterised by an intuitive and organic dynamic that leaves room for spontaneous developments. This gives rise to works whose multi-layered nature and complexity explore the boundaries between form, texture and emotion.
Sustainability and Transformation
At the heart of the ARTcycling by egenART project lies the transformation of seemingly worthless materials into meaningful works of art. By integrating discarded objects into the artistic process, works are created that not only generate visual tension but also make a clear statement about the connection between artistic expression and environmental awareness.
The project illustrates how the aesthetics of the new and a sense of responsibility towards the environment can come together within art to form a sustainable dialogue.
