This painting is an even smaller version of the ‘Orosz Class’ (also on display here at the SKM). It is painted on a wooden panel which has warped slightly along the grain. It is important to me to use recycled natural materials, but unfortunately this sometimes comes with certain drawbacks*. As always, the paints used are of the highest quality. Before posting, I will drill a hole in the back so that the painting can be hung easily, and attach a hand-printed paper seal (copperplate engraving) as a signature; here is an example image.
*The wooden panels on which the old masters painted were cut from a precise cross-section of the trunk; this is the only way to avoid warping with absolute certainty, but it also means that only one usable panel can be obtained from each tree.

I began my artistic career with an apprenticeship as a stonemason and sculptor. I am now studying figurative painting at Alanus University in Andreas Orosz’s class.
The subjects of my paintings are varied, and what they all have in common is, above all, a wide-ranging interest in the world. I pursue my spirit of discovery using various methods; sometimes I paint from memory, but whenever possible I also enjoy painting ‘en plein air’ on location. My enjoyment of various photographic techniques also helps me to engage with a subject.
