The (B)Engel series currently consists of ten works.
The motifs are created digitally and are composed of various photographs (mostly from the internet). This results in a rough collage, which serves as a template for the drawing. This is then
projected onto a wooden panel
using
, a projector; the panel has already been partially covered with woodchip wallpaper and primed with a colour gradient.
The motif is ‘painted in’ with tinted wall paint and outlined with an Edding marker.
This results in images in a consistent, pastel colour palette.
The wall paint, the woodchip wallpaper, the Edding marker, the coloured pencils – or, more generally, the ‘simple technique’ – contrast with the detailed, constructed motif.
Constructed images of bodies and roles creep into the deliberately ‘pretty’ and kitsch images and are called into question.

My works are usually created in series, and I enjoy working with materials that come my way – be it wooden panels from the bulky waste, plastic flowers from a flea market, and so on. This often dictates the format straight away.I enjoy ‘rough’ working methods, for example using construction adhesive, and then I paint the pictures in light – I’d even say kitsch – pastel wall colours to contrast with this roughness. I ‘make it pretty’. In doing so, I like to stick to this DIY catalogue aesthetic. In keeping with this theme, some of the ‘(B)Angel pictures’ are also set against kitsch textured wallpaper. In this series, the focus of the work is, on the one hand, a critique of existing body and role stereotypes, and on the other, an imaginative glorification of them.
