Emina Suljkanovic
She works with airbrush, spray paint and acrylic on canvas.
Using these media, Suljkanovic explores the themes of memory and existence.
The selection of colours, shapes, objects and lettering, as well as the placement of objects within the image, forms an important part of her artistic practice.
Her works embody the past and memories, loss and that which has been lost from another place.
Central themes in her work include an examination of identity, reflections on life and existence, and a questioning of group dynamics and social interactions through the integration of everyday objects and written characters.
“For a long time, my past felt like an abandoned ruin, passing and crumbling away in a completely different place.”
She finds
inspiration for her work in personal encounters, memories and the stories that life writes. Her works are a visual exploration of the passage of time and the existential questions that concern us all. Through her art, she creates a space in which viewers can explore their own relationship with the past, as well as with transience and individual experiences.
