Jonathan Lützen
In his expressionist paintings, Jonathan Lützen explores his own identity and heritage. Both historical and contemporary photographs from northern Germany, particularly the island of Sylt where he grew up, serve as motifs for his paintings. His work invites reflection on memory and a sense of belonging, without romanticising them. Vibrant colours that break with the local colour palette, combined with an expressive, deconstructive style, challenge the echoes of memory. As if in visions from the past, figures and scenes appear and then dissolve once more. Jonathan Lützen has been studying in Christian Hahn’s painting class since 2023
Jonathan Lützen (born 2003 in Cuxhaven) lives and works in Hamburg. He is a student in Prof. Christian Hahn’s painting class.
