My work *Blurred Future* draws its power from the contrast between the harshness and directness of the charcoal pencil, which shapes the outline of a figure crouching on the ground, and the delicate, blurred areas that surround the person as they dream. *Blurred Future* was created at a time when the future seemed out of reach due to the COVID-19 pandemic – shut out, visible only from the window. During this period, however, many longings took shape – blurred daydreams of a future of normality. The desire to break free, to spread out, to experience vastness, is reflected in this work. It was created in February 2021 and is a mixed-media piece combining acrylics with a fine charcoal pencil, which creates a striking contrast and delineates the forms from one another. The work can be framed, but is supplied unframed so that customers can choose their own frame to complement the piece according to their personal preferences.

For me, art is about capturing the uniqueness and individuality in every person, in every moment, and the wildness of nature, and interpreting them for myself. During my studies, I specialised in figurative painting, and my artistic work explores the tension between closeness and distance that arises in human relationships. I observe social dynamics; I am interested in how authentically we present ourselves in the presence of others, and who we are when we are alone and no one is forcing us to change through norms and expectations. My artistic work explores ways of breaking free from the expectations, social and formal norms placed upon us as individuals and as artists.
