A small-format plein air painting from 2023, painted in oil on canvas and subsequently mounted onto a wooden backing board.
‘Plein air’ means the painting was created outdoors in a single session. Once the paint had dried, I glued the canvas onto a wooden backing board. The edges of the backing board have also been primed and painted white with the highest quality oil paint, so they will not yellow over time in contrast to the painting. As the wood is ‘recycled’ from old pallets, the work has a deliberately rustic look that harmonises well with the impasto application of paint.
The painting will, of course, be varnished before dispatch. Holes drilled into the backing board are intended to allow for easy hanging using one or two nails (if not yet visible in the photos above, I will drill these before dispatch).
This painting will be signed on the top edge and bear a paper seal (copperplate engraving) on the reverse.

I began my artistic career with an apprenticeship as a stonemason and sculptor. I am now studying figurative painting at Alanus University in Andreas Orosz’s class.
The subjects of my paintings are varied, and what they all have in common is, above all, a wide-ranging interest in the world. I pursue my spirit of discovery using various methods; sometimes I paint from memory, but whenever possible I also enjoy painting ‘en plein air’ on location. My enjoyment of various photographic techniques also helps me to engage with a subject.Â
