This work is a spatial installation housed in a transparent acrylic display case.
Inside, seven layers of mesh fabric are stretched one behind the other. Openings of varying sizes have been cut into each of these layers.
The overlapping of the seven layers creates a surprising sense of depth when viewed through the display case. Together, the holes in the individual layers form a kind of abstract space that may be reminiscent of a glitch, a starry sky or a window into another dimension.
Depending on the viewing angle, the perception of the work changes slightly – the shapes shift optically, creating a lively, spatial effect.
The transparent display case protects the work whilst allowing the viewer’s gaze to pass completely through the installation. As a result, the object appears both as a picture and as a small spatial sculpture.
Each work is unique.
