This is a tomcat called Castiel. His owners took him to the animal shelter because they no longer needed him, even though he is an incredibly charismatic tomcat.
At the ‘Vuhlyk’ animal shelter, located in Ukraine, there are over 200 cats like Castiel, as well as many other animals – such as cows, calves and pigs – which these wonderful people have rescued from abattoirs.
With this drawing, I would like to draw attention to the needs of animals and animal shelters, as they only exist thanks to donations from dedicated people – including the ‘Vuhlyk’ animal shelter.
All proceeds from the sale of this picture will go towards supporting this animal shelter.
Postage:
The artwork will be dispatched with a passe-partout and picture frame – including a certificate of authenticity and the artist’s signature on the reverse.

I am an aspiring artist from Ukraine and moved to Germany in early 2022 because of the war in Ukraine. Ever since I was a child, I have felt drawn to drawing and the world of art. I learnt to draw in an art studio and took part in exhibitions, but unfortunately, the profession of an artist was not regarded as prestigious in society. That is why I decided to study journalism at university rather than art.
However, after graduating from university and changing jobs several times, I realised that my life was incomplete without art and that I could not devote myself to anything else. So I decided to study fine art. I attended the studio of a Ukrainian artist, but had to interrupt my studies because of the war.
In 2023, I resumed my art studies at an art school here in Cologne, where I studied for a year whilst also taking private lessons. I now work in the studio of an experienced artist, Oleksii, and am constantly improving my skills.
I am only at the beginning of my creative journey, but I feel the strength to carry on. I love trying out new techniques and materials, which is why you’ll find a wide variety of drawings and paintings on my website. Art is a part of me – it defines who I am, and I cannot live without it.
