The figure depicted wears a mask that serves both as protection and as a form of performance. Here, the clown appears not as a comic figure, but as a state of being: between play and seriousness, visibility and concealment. The body appears to be off-balance, leaning, almost falling – as if surrendering to an external or internal force.
The expressive splashes of colour in the background contrast with the calmly modelled figure. They create a field of restlessness and energy that both amplifies and isolates the body’s movement. Whilst the clothing remains everyday and unremarkable, the mask draws the eye and compels the viewer to engage with roles, expectations and attributions.
The work captures a moment in which identity is not fixed, but appears performative. It explores the tension between what is shown and what lies beneath – and raises the question of how much control one actually has over one’s own representation.

Since 2018, my life has revolved around painting. After completing my degree in graphic design in 2025, I began studying fine art at the HfBK Dresden.
My works are nostalgic, left-leaning pieces that explore my own emotional worlds.
Each piece captures a moment that isn’t clear-cut – a state of in-between. Lines, colours and shapes reflect inner processes that can’t always be put into words. The works invite you to recognise yourself in these transitions, regardless of gender or identity.
