CAREER
Kathrin’s in-depth engagement with art began during her voluntary social year at the renowned Kunsthalle and Malschule Emden between 2016 and 2017. During this time, she had the honour of working as an assistant to esteemed artists such as Vitor Ramos and Nicolaus Hippen, which had a significant influence on her creative development.
Inspired by these experiences, Kathrin decided to study art and art history at the University of Osnabrück, where she pursued her academic career from 2017 to 2021. During her studies, she discovered her affinity for painting.
Upon completing her degree in art and art history, Kathrin decided to take the next step in her artistic development and began her Master’s degree in art therapy (2021–2023). This course enabled her to explore the connection between art and therapy and to use art as a means of self-healing and personal development.
CONCEPT
In her art, Kathrin Borgerding reflects on how she processes experiences and themes from her everyday life, and regards the human being as an individual as a central theme of her art. Her paintings are characterised by their ability to capture deep emotions and moods. She uses her art as a means of engaging with the hopes, dreams and feelings of people as individuals.
In her current work, she explores the difficulties and beauties of ageing. She draws inspiration from her work as an art therapist in geriatric psychiatry.
