The work depicts an isolated everyday object, reduced to form, colour and weight. Set against a clear, monochrome background, the motif appears to float in space – decontextualised, detached from function and use. The bold areas of colour and stark contrasts lend the object an almost iconic presence.
Through its stark simplification and pop-art-style colour scheme, the mundane becomes a vehicle for meaning. Wear, pressure and deformation are visible, without being explained. The object is not judged, but rather displayed – as a trace of consumption, action and transience.
Situated somewhere between still life and Pop Art, the work explores our relationship with disposable objects and their quiet presence in everyday life. The seemingly unimportant is given space, attention and permanence.

, I’m Charlie Matthew, also known as StAR.
Since 2018, my life has revolved around painting. After completing my degree in graphic design in 2025, I began studying fine art at the HfBK Dresden.
My works are nostalgic, left-leaning pieces that explore my own emotional worlds.
Each piece captures a moment that isn’t clear-cut – a state of in-between. Lines, colours and shapes reflect inner processes that can’t always be put into words. The works invite you to recognise yourself in these transitions, regardless of gender or identity.
