Four young people are sitting on the shore of a lake, gazing together at a vividly glowing sunset. Headphones, laptops and smartphones signify their place in a digitally shaped present. Yet their attention is focused neither on one another nor on the technical devices, but on the vastness of the landscape and the spectacular display of colour on the horizon. The sunset does not feel like the end of a day, but rather a transition – a state of limbo between the present and the future. The people depicted seem like a generation in transition: digitally connected, knowledge-oriented and, at the same time, searching for direction, meaning and emotional connection. Despite the constant presence of technology, their gaze remains fixed on nature – on something greater, open and uncertain. Shaped by the desire to reconnect with nature.
