You are held
There are times in life that feel difficult. Times when we feel lost, sad or overwhelmed – as if we were losing our footing. Probably every one of us has experienced such phases.
And yet, it is precisely in these moments that there is something that sustains us.
Sometimes it is God, whose presence we may not always see, but can feel. Sometimes it is the people closest to our hearts – those who love us, who hold us steady, even when we ourselves have hardly any strength left. They are there, quietly or quite visibly, reminding us that we are not alone.
This picture conveys this in a playful, almost childlike way. The shapes are soft, the colours vibrant, and right at the centre: a point of support, a hug, a sense of being held. It isn’t perfect, it isn’t smooth – but that is precisely where its truth lies.
Perhaps we don’t always have to be strong. Perhaps we’re allowed to simply let ourselves be held.
Shipping:
The artwork is stretched onto a stretcher frame and shipped in a shadow-joint frame – including a certificate of authenticity and the artist’s signature on the reverse.
Lucina Ries
I work intuitively – my paintings take shape in the moment, driven by my feelings. Colours, shapes and lines flow onto the canvas without any plan. I love the playful and the spontaneous. This often results in vibrant, colourful works that have a childlike quality – carefree, open and warm-hearted.
My art is meant to move people, but not overwhelm them. I want to bring a smile to the viewer’s face, a feeling of warmth and comfort. Perhaps to bring back a little lightness to an often noisy, complicated world.
As well as painting, I also work with analogue photography – a conscious focus on small, genuine moments. I capture simple, everyday situations that are usually overlooked. For me, art is a place where I am free – and that is exactly what I want to convey.
