This series combines screen printing and painting in an open, multi-layered process.
The starting point was the large-format oil painting ‘#28 – The Sixth Life’ (see last image; exhibited at the Märkisches Museum in Witten; not included in this offer).
Four screen-printing passes were interwoven with freehand painting, resulting in 18 individual, one-off pieces.
The works were created on professional wooden panels, which were specially manufactured for artistic use and subsequently primed with gesso by the artist.
Thematically, the series explores the motif of the fish – specifically the sea bream – as well as the state of the shoal:
uniform as a whole, yet unique in detail upon closer inspection.
The series is limited to 18 copies, each numbered and signed.

Moritz Maas
is
