‘Distant View’ was created during my last trip to Italy. I was already familiar with the lush landscape there, with its rich colours, from previous painting trips, and so, driven by curiosity and eager for new subjects, I decided to climb ‘La Rocca’, a rugged mountain right on the shores of Lake Garda.
The sun was beating down, and the easel and my painting kit weighed me down with every step, but I was determined to reach the summit to catch a magnificent view of the valley… and I was not disappointed.
It is the moments in life for which we have worked hard and broken a sweat that give us the greatest sense of liberation, and I tried to capture this feeling, coupled with the breathtaking view that unfolded before me, in this landscape painting.
May this painting also find a place in your home and serve as a reminder that life is often an uphill struggle, but that the view at the end is always worth it.
