Painting
Ann Voigt’s series of works combines figurative painting with dreamlike pictorial spaces. Childlike figures, animals and inanimate elements are developed from photographic references and condensed into open, potentially limitless constellations. The large-scale pastel paintings create an intense richness of colour whilst also evoking a fragile surface effect. Between figuration and fantasy, a state of ‘in-between’ emerges, in which relationships are more important than unambiguous narratives. The technical reflection on the fixation of the pastel becomes an integral part of the artistic practice in its own right.

I am constantly rediscovering the colourful diversity of art with great enthusiasm. This inspires me to create various series of works on canvas, wood or through digital photography. I use photographic references and my own photo archive as a starting point. I then distil this material into dreamlike, colour-rich visual spaces.
