The Fragility of Home
The painting ‘The Fragility of Home’ reflects a critical examination and a search for security within the context of a relationship. In my work, I explore the ambivalence and complexity of ‘home’ as both a physical and emotional state. The painting questions the concept of home as an idea reflected in care and giving, which in social narratives is often attributed to the feminine role within monogamous relationships.
The woman thus becomes a symbol of giving and life – a place of security that she herself creates through her care.
But who offers her this space of security?
The work therefore explores the feeling of emptiness and the search for an inner home.
