Info :
I began the series ‘Geometric Reflections’ in 2017, using the woodcut printing technique.
The series is intended to showcase my interest in the elements found in our surroundings that make up our world. Whether they are living beings, objects, raw materials or intangible (such as systems and orders), their visual impact is important to me. And on which levels these entities affect us as humans, to what extent and how strongly.
What role do visual impressions play in shaping our personalities, how do they influence the mentalities of societies and peoples, and vice versa? And how do they differ from one place to another?
For some time now, I have been trying to observe my surroundings carefully, to scrutinise the individual elements, to break them down, to reduce them to their fundamental geometric forms and to decouple them. I then bring these together and combine them in a completely different way, so that the end result forms a different whole, which serves to represent the impressions and feelings I gained through my observations much more strongly and intensely. And ultimately to convey them to the viewer in a way that is both direct and, at the same time, indirect.
