Alcohol bottles, once merely containers for drinks, are now often transformed into works of art that adorn living spaces. Repurposed as flower vases, they open up a world of creativity and aesthetics. Yet their transformation runs deeper than mere decoration – it weaves history and symmetry into a harmonious whole.
The inspiration for such decorations dates back to the ancient world, to the origins of vases. These works of art from the past were not merely containers, but masterpieces of symmetry, constructed according to the mathematical laws of harmony.
Even the flowers that flourish in these vases follow a specific pattern. Their petals unfurl according to a well-defined pattern dictated by nature itself.
In the work ‘Deko und Gin’, I play with these aspects, attempting to unite them and elevate them to a new level. I combine acrylic painting with the craft of sewing on canvas. Here, not only materials but also ideas merge to form a fascinating dialogue between the past and the present, nature and art.
