Dieses Bild ist inspiriert von Momenten am Meer während meiner Reisen in Spanien. Es zeigt dieses Gefühl, am Strand entlangzugehen, den Wind auf der Haut zu spüren und für einen Augenblick ganz im Hier und Jetzt anzukommen. Eine leichte Brise, das Rauschen der Wellen und dieses bewusste Durchatmen, bei dem alles ganz ruhig wird.

Die Szene ist ohne festen Plan entstanden und mehr aus einem Gefühl heraus gewachsen. Während des Malens habe ich mich treiben lassen und immer wieder gemerkt, wie sich diese Leichtigkeit weiter entfaltet. Es war ein Eintauchen in einen Moment, der einfach nur da sein darf.

Für mich steht das Bild für kleine Pausen im Alltag. Dafür, sich Zeit zu nehmen, nach draußen zu gehen und sich selbst wieder näher zu kommen. Ein kurzer Moment, um innezuhalten und einfach zu sein.

Vanessa Marscholek

In her figurative painting, Vanessa Marscholek explores issues of identity, self-determination and female freedom. At the centre are female figures whose expressions oscillate between strength, vulnerability and independence. Her works are to be understood not so much as concrete depictions, but rather as emotional states that manifest themselves in postures, gazes and colour fields.

Her painting is characterised by a sensitive handling of oil as a medium, through which intimacy and presence unfold simultaneously. Figures emerge and assert themselves within the pictorial space without being clearly defined. They remain in motion, open to interpretation. This creates a tension between visibility and inner experience, inviting viewers to reflect on their own notions of freedom and identity.

Vanessa Marscholek has been studying Art Therapy (BA) at the Medical School Hamburg, Campus Arts and Social Change, since 2023 and is currently in her sixth semester.

From late 2023 to early 2026, she volunteered at the Habibi Atelier in Hamburg, where she was involved in the conception and organisation of exhibitions for charitable purposes. In this role, she collaborated with over 40 Hamburg-based artists and supported, amongst others, the Sternenbrücke children’s hospice (2024) and the Löwenhaus children’s and youth centre (2025).

She lives and studies in Hamburg.
