Die Kugelmenschen sind ein antiker Mythos aus Platons „Symposion“ (Das Gastmahl), vorgetragen vom Komödiendichter Aristophanes. Sie beschreiben ursprüngliche, runde Wesen mit vier Armen, vier Beinen und zwei Gesichtern, die wegen ihres Hochmutes von Zeus geteilt wurden. Dies erklärt die menschliche Sehnsucht nach Liebe als Suche nach der „anderen Hälfte“.Â
