The Wanderer was no longer standing on the rocky summit. He was sitting in a dimly lit room; the floorboards creaked softly beneath him, and the only light was the distant, blue glow of twilight outside his window. Yet he was not alone in the darkness. For hours he had remained perched on the edge of the Elbe Sandstone Cliffs. He had not looked away as the sun transformed the sea of clouds into a dazzling, almost painful white. He had burned the outline of the dark rocks into his retinas, as if he wanted to physically capture infinity. When he closed his eyes, the world tilted. The bright sea of clouds became a deep black, pulsating void. The wanderer’s dark coat and the jagged rocks transformed into a ghostly, neon-glowing cyan.
