Every one of us is subjected to an alarmingly growing number of standards on a daily basis. Women, in particular, are still under pressure to always look flawless: their hair must be perfectly styled, their figure should be slender, and heaven forbid anyone should spot wrinkles on their face. Much like a decorative item, a woman is presented in the “prime of her life”, only to be discarded later and mocked as unattractive.
The work ‘Decorative Vase’ takes an ironic and exaggerated look at today’s beauty ideals. It is intended to remind us all once again that we are more than just a beautiful flower that will eventually wilt.
As the original sold out quickly, there is now the opportunity to purchase a limited number of small art prints of the motif. The art print is limited to just 10 copies and is printed on high-quality paper. All art prints also come with a certificate of authenticity. (The artwork is supplied unframed)
Michelle Mall
Michelle Mall was born on 11 July 1997 in Stuttgart. She completed a teacher training degree in biology and art at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart and the University of Hohenheim. She now works full-time as a teacher of this subject combination.
Her artistic work focuses on the study of nature, form and colour, as well as various contemporary themes. Her analogue acrylic paintings strike a balance between coarse and fine brushstrokes, whilst her digital paintings present surrealist social criticism in a ‘beautiful’ package. Digital works are also sold as art prints in limited editions.
Art and literature have always been closely linked for her. Texts – whether standing alone or accompanying her work – are an integral part of her practice as an artist. For the past two years, texts and independent publications have become an increasingly significant part of her body of work.
