I have given the title ‘Lixeira’ (Portuguese for ‘rubbish bin’) to two paintings that faithfully capture the distinctive aesthetic atmosphere of two everyday street scenes through a precise yet light-touch painting style.
I painted the picture using pigments of the highest quality and durability on genuine flax canvas. Only once the painting was complete did I stretch it onto a stretcher frame I had made myself. As with all my works, I made this from recycled scrap wood and without the use of energy-intensive power tools. This lends the work a sense of sustainability that is important to me and emphasises its uniqueness. However, it also means that the edge of the painting is sometimes subject to the natural characteristics of the non-industrially processed wood, meaning it may occasionally exhibit slight warping.

I began my artistic career with an apprenticeship as a stonemason and sculptor. I am now studying figurative painting at Alanus University in Andreas Orosz’s class.
The subjects of my paintings are varied, and what they all have in common is, above all, a wide-ranging interest in the world. I pursue my spirit of discovery using various methods; sometimes I paint from memory, but whenever possible I also enjoy painting ‘en plein air’ on location. My enjoyment of various photographic techniques also helps me to engage with a subject.
