MAN OF EEL is a good example of the role that abstraction and composition play in my creative process. The image plays with symbolism and meaning.
With staging and interpretation. The starting point for this work was a photograph taken in Valencia, Spain. In the photograph, Liam is holding a mobile phone.
We were on a road trip: 40 degrees in the shade, menthol cigarettes in the car park, the sea glistening in the rear-view mirror. We were cowboys. And Liam loves eels.
MAN OF EEL was exhibited in 2023 as part of add art Hamburg at the Ruge Fehsenfeld law firm, and in a solo exhibition at the PAPP Café & Bar in Bremen.

Anaïs Marie Perier
completeda Bachelor’s degree in Illustration at the
HAW – University of Applied Sciences
in Hamburg. In 2023, she moved to Leipzig.
Drawing on her own photographs of her personal surroundings, Anaïs Marie Perier uses oil and acrylic painting to explore the essence of interpersonal experiences and constructed (emotional) landscapes. On their canvases, an interplay of figurative and abstract elements blurs the boundaries between individual documentation and universal observation. In this way, the visual worlds invite the viewer to recognise themselves within them. From the photographs, she draws primarily on those aspects that originally inspired the shots: a dynamic, a mood or a gesture of trust, an emotional content, a tilted head, or simply the way the shadow of a palm tree falls.
Biographically inspired, Anaïs Marie Perier’s paintings, as well as her graphic narratives and illustrations, blend influences, atmospheres, colours and motifs from the south of France, the island of La Réunion, California and northern Germany. And they are always testing boundaries and striking a balance between the nostalgic and the kitsch, the gentle and the bold, the elegant and the imperfect, the loud and the loving.
