Die Membran-Serie spielt mit den Möglichkeiten und Grenzen grober selbst geschnitzter Bambusfedern, die große Tropfen schwarzer Zeichentusche an ihrer Spitze führen und zusammenfließen lassen, sodass sich zwischen ihnen nur bedingt kontrollierbare Weißräume ergeben. Eine unregelmäßige Netzstruktur erzeugt Räumlichkeiten, die sich jedoch nie vollends erschließen lassen.

My drawing practice
is rooted in an almost childlike fascination with the very essence of drawing: leaving visible traces on a surface – drawing as a physical process, the drawing itself as the visible manifestation of a fleeting action. In this sense, I explore the facets of autonomous drawing in terms of rhythm, speed and control, and practise drawing as an intuitive, meditative game. The form of the series is essential and ever-present here, as it is only through repetition and variation that the possibility of an intense experience arises. All the works on display here on my website are therefore part of larger bodies of work and merely a snapshot of a comprehensive drawing process.
I am interested in exploring the specific properties of various drawing media in dialogue with my drawing body, and the possibilities and limitations of the traces they leave together on paper or canvas. Factors such as rhythm, density and complexity play a key role in this.
It is always about the act of drawing, not about producing a drawing. The process determines the result. This openness imbues the works with a poetic character, to which I give a certain direction, in part through the titles, but which I never fix in place. The drawings open up spaces for association, the shaping of which begins anew with every individual viewer’s gaze.
