Luz del Carmen Bustamante Sánchez
Her practice explores the relationship between humans and nature from a non-hierarchical, feminist perspective. The starting point for her work is the question of what happens when nature is no longer an object of domination, but is understood as an autonomous counterpart.
Having started out in mural painting in Brazil and Mexico, she developed a site-specific approach in public spaces. She is currently completing a Master’s degree in Art. Her works have been exhibited at venues including the BBK Osnabrück; she has also created several murals.
In her paintings, she combines surrealist imagery with symbolic compositions. Influenced by mythology and research into the imagination, she creates pictorial spaces in which imagination becomes visible as a form of resistance against the capitalist logic of productivity, inviting viewers to reawaken dreams in everyday life.
