Viveka Biondic
Viveka Biondic is a multidisciplinary artist and curator with an international exhibition practice spanning Paris, London, Mexico, Istanbul, Vienna and Salzburg. Her work spans painting, performance, photography, printmaking and text, and emerges at the intersection of the body, materiality and emotional experience.
At the heart of her artistic practice lie female narratives, resilience and transformation. Her works explore vulnerability not as a weakness, but as a visible form of strength and presence. Inspired by the philosophy of kintsugi, Viveka Biondic develops a minimalist yet intense visual language in which fractures, gold, deep matt black surfaces and body-related forms become recurring elements.
In recent years, her artistic practice has increasingly shifted towards materiality and object-based art. Alongside painting and performance, she works extensively with acrylic glass, metal, gold and mirror elements, as well as highly light-absorbing pigments, enabling her works to develop a stronger spatial and sculptural presence.
Viveka Biondic has gained international attention through, amongst other things, her residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, as well as through exhibitions and performances in London, Istanbul and Mexico. Her works have been presented in museum and institutional contexts, including the Museo Nacional de la Pirotecnia and the Museo Estatal de Arte Popular in Mexico. Several of her projects are developed in collaboration with international institutions, cultural organisations and curatorial platforms spanning Europe and Latin America.
Alongside her own artistic practice, she develops curatorial concepts and interdisciplinary exhibitions that interweave art, space and performance. Projects such as ‘Kintsugi – The Golden Break-Off’, ‘Der Stand des Weibes ist Ruhe’ and ‘The Dress’ view art not as a static object, but as an expanded space of experience between the body, memory and transformation.
