Born and raised in Ulm, the artist Elif Çelik’s paintings explore in depth questions of personal identity and life amidst diverse cultural influences. In her works, she uses motifs from everyday life as well as deliberate symbolism to question the way we view images and people. Through her painting, she creates new forms of representation and encourages us to gently break down and reorganise deeply ingrained social perspectives and patterns of perception. In doing so, she uses art as a medium to make her own experiences tangible and to foster critical reflection on belonging and coexistence.
