Limited-edition print series ‘Poppies and Velvet Nights’ from the well-known ‘Girl in a Suit’ series.
Limited edition: 60 x 80 cm, 15 prints each.
For me, the title “Poppies & Velvet Nights” combines the delicacy of poppies with the deep, almost mysterious atmosphere of a velvety night. In this interplay between floral lightness and fashionable elegance, a moment of quiet strength emerges – feminine, sensitive and yet aloof.
For me, the work illustrates the duality of beauty and self-assertion – a theme that runs through my “Girl in a Suit” series. It is about femininity that is not only gentle, but also courageous and individual – about the interplay of vulnerability and strength.
Julia Von Solemacher
In her paintings, she combines clear forms, minimalist facial features and vibrant colours. Her figures appear calm and self-assured, embodying a balance between elegance and inner strength. The deliberate simplification of facial features creates scope for interpretation, allowing viewers to project their own emotions and thoughts onto the figures.
Julia von Solemacher’s desire to become an artist emerged at an early age. After working in fields outside the arts, she decided to pursue this path with determination and eventually devoted herself entirely to painting.
Julia von Solemacher studied art education at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and fine art painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kolbermoor.
