Julia Oleinicenko
Julia Oleinicenko (born in Oldenburg in 2001) grew up surrounded by several cultures. Her mother is from Tiraspol (Moldova), whilst her father is from Tomsk (Russia) and grew up near Odessa in Ukraine. Those formative summers in the Ukrainian countryside – a life of simplicity, self-sufficiency and authenticity – sharpened her awareness of home, memory and identity from an early age. These themes continue to resonate in her work to this day. Since 2023, she has been studying at HAW Hamburg in Christian Hahn’s painting class. In the same year, she was awarded a scholarship from the ELES Foundation for the Promotion of Gifted Students. In 2025, she sold her first paintings.
In her painting
, she combines modern realism with influences from Pop Art. Her works are characterised by bold colours, a clear visual language, strong contrasts and minimalist backgrounds. They frequently feature portraits, including those of older people. Recurring symbols, such as the tulip – a symbol of transience and, at the same time, of new beginnings –
link personal experiences with universal themes. Thus, her paintings explore impressions drawn from childhood, culture, family history and modern society.
