I decided to create the ‘Golden Series of Women’s Portraits’, which is intended to express female strength, self-confidence, beauty and spirituality, and to portray femininity as I understand it. This portrait is the third in the series and was created using soft pastels and pastel pencils on pastel paper.
I use a special technique based on recognising the abstract within the concrete and making the connections between these abstract forms visible, in order to convey the spirit and essence of the subject. In doing so, I pay particular attention to the woman’s expression and emotions – her desires, what she wishes to convey to us in that moment, and what she is thinking and carrying in her heart.
In some areas, I like to work with broad, expressive strokes, whilst in others I focus on fine details.

I am an aspiring artist from Ukraine and moved to Germany in early 2022 because of the war in Ukraine. Ever since I was a child, I have felt drawn to drawing and the world of art. I learnt to draw in an art studio and took part in exhibitions, but unfortunately, the profession of an artist was not regarded as prestigious in society. That is why I decided to study journalism at university rather than art.
However, after graduating from university and changing jobs several times, I realised that my life was incomplete without art and that I could not devote myself to anything else. So I decided to study fine art. I attended the studio of a Ukrainian artist, but had to interrupt my studies because of the war.
In 2023, I resumed my art studies at an art school here in Cologne, where I studied for a year whilst also taking private lessons. I now work in the studio of an experienced artist, Oleksii, and am constantly improving my skills.
I am only at the beginning of my creative journey, but I feel the strength to carry on. I love trying out new techniques and materials, which is why you’ll find a wide variety of drawings and paintings on my website. Art is a part of me – it defines who I am, and I cannot live without it.
