As I devoted more time to the nude and thus to human anatomy during my studies, I produced numerous study sketches. Over time, I developed a feel for anatomy and my perception became more acute.
There were times when our life drawing class had just 5–10 minutes to capture a pose. My focus is always razor-sharp during these sessions; sometimes I even hold my breath when it comes to capturing the complex anatomy in such a short time, because I have to concentrate so intensely. In those 5–10 minutes, the brain is working at full speed. Where do I place my lines, what are the distances? Making corrections: there’s no time. So it has to be spot on.
This life drawing is the result of highly concentrated work. It embodies the concentrated power of focused perceptual processes.
Verena Fuchs
Colours have always been my inspiration and driving force, enabling me to gradually create worlds out of splashes of colour and pictorial spaces.
In doing so, I have always remained true to my own style, particularly in terms of spontaneity and intuition.
A painting gains its tension when it springs directly from one’s own personal artistic language and is then expressed in colour. Sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, sometimes playful, sometimes serious.
Naturally, I also accept commissions, provided I am allowed to remain true to my style! (However, I can only work on these during the school holidays!)
