Stifling heat, the chirping of crickets by the lake. The joy of life on summer’s days.
How I had to use the brush with my arm outstretched so that I wouldn’t have to leave the shelter of the shade. I’m shielding myself from something I love, because it could harm me.
So the painting was mostly done with my arm outstretched, quite loosely, using my forearm. Carefree.
I really love painting skies. I’m always overcome by a feeling of longing and a love of freedom. But I don’t want to paint just the sky on its own. Because if I didn’t have the ground and objects nearby, I wouldn’t be able to dream of the vast distance.
Then the illusion of that distance isn’t as strong, and the longing I want to evoke isn’t as intense. The ground beneath our feet is there so we can dream of flying. :)
Word
Verena Fuchs
Colours have always been my inspiration and driving force, enabling me to gradually create worlds out of splashes of colour and pictorial spaces.
In doing so, I have always remained true to my own style, particularly in terms of spontaneity and intuition.
A painting gains its tension when it springs directly from one’s own personal artistic language and is then expressed in colour. Sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, sometimes playful, sometimes serious.
Naturally, I also accept commissions, provided I am allowed to remain true to my style! (However, I can only work on these during the school holidays!)
