Info:
Frederick Reifsteck
Frederick Reifsteck is studying art at Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and has been represented at the Student Art Market since August 2023.
In his work, Frederick combines technical precision with a raw, urban aesthetic, with portraits and the themes of dance and movement forming the core of his creative practice. The motifs are created using stencils he makes himself, which he cuts out with a scalpel and then complements with spontaneous, often gestural brushstrokes. This combination of controlled technique and free painting lends his works a tension between structure and intuition. In general, Frederick’s work is characterised by a play on contrasts: movement and stillness, harshness and sensitivity, control and spontaneity. These dualities create not only a deliberate friction but also a harmony – a symbiosis in which opposites do not cancel each other out but rather reinforce one another. An important element of his work is the choice of support: whether scratched road signs, old scraps of wood, or discarded everyday objects. The material is stripped of its original function and transformed into a new narrative medium.
In recent years, Frederick has increasingly collaborated with national galleries and is primarily represented in group exhibitions and at art fairs.
